On Monday, Lara gave us a project based on data of the riots in England in 2011.
We were split up into groups of 5-6 people and asked to organize the data into a system using different color thread and thumbtacks.

We decided to split the data according to date, events that happened, venues as well as severity within an area.

We then chose 5 different areas to concentrate on:
As well as 5 major events:

1. Manchester
2. Birmingham
3. Harringay
4. Wandsworth
5. Brixton.

We then used different colors string to represent the different events that have happened.
London Riots
01102013
1. Death
2. Looting
3. Vandalism
4. Arson
5. Theft
By doing this, we managed to visually dissect and identity where the highest amount of crime, type of crime, as well as the area of crime.

On the right is a few examples of more aesthetically pleasing nail and string arts that can be used for leisure.
Creating my own infographic
After doing some research, I found a simple infographic generator online called Piktochart.

Piktochart has set templates for users to use to make their very own infographics. There are even selections on the sides that allow you to choose color schemes. I picked an orange and turquoise color scheme and used only 3 places and 3 events to make a simple infographic.

1. Haringey
2. Wandsworth
3. Birmingham
1. Loots
2. Arson
3. Violence
On the left is the infographic that I made to represent a small section of the London Riots.

I used the first section to make my title. I named it "London Riots: Report, an infographic poster."

In the section section, I entitled it "Places Involved". The chart is based on the amount of violence that has happened in Haringey, Wandsworth and Birmingham according to 50 different events. I used triangles to represent the events and colors to represent the different areas.

The last section is dedicated to the amount of loots, arson and violence that has happened out of 100%. There are also infographic images, of which some I have made on my own to represent each event. The titles are next to the percentage and the subtitle under it is the description of each event.
